Faking Flawless
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
With the advent of High Definition television, makeup artists who once caked on the makeup have had to clean up their act, thankfully! Every artist has a technique and some opt for an airbrush gun to apply makeup. Recently, various articles have given consumers the steps airbrush themselves. But some tricks should be left to those in the trade. There is a much easier way to fake flawless than to get shot with a loaded gun!
In the spirit of the season, you can either choose a simple trick or a treat:
TRICK: Mix a drop of the following with your foundation or concealer for the appearance of a smooth complexion. Use the palm of your hand to mix and apply with fingertips.
Prescriptives Magic Illuminating Liquid Potion- This “magical” lotion is available in three formulas, translucent, red neutralizing and deep translucent. As we approach colder weather, the red neutralizer offers a bonus to those of you fair skinned ladies who suffer from rosy-nose syndrome. (Though I’m a Dean not a Doctor, I have seen enough afflicted with this to know it is bona fide!) The deep translucent potion is perfect for darker skin tones.
(Available at most department stores)
TREAT:
SK-II Air Touch- This palm sized, red disk delivers the airbrush quality results without the traditional, labor intensive technique. Follow instructions to apply. But remember to take a breath before you begin the application. The inside of your nostrils need not illuminate! Pat any excess with your fingers to blend. This is definitely a treat, as it is quite pricey.
(Available at Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomindale’s)
So with little difficulty, get the high definition look!
