The Time and Place for Glitz and Glamour

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

As our skin changes with age, so too should the application of certain cosmetics. Shimmer is an ingredient used in every brand. But that does not mean it should be worn on every part of the body. As with everything in life, there is a time and place. True glamour is knowing when and how to turn on the glitz. The following is a guide to shimmer’s TIME (age) and PLACE (where to wear it on your body).

TIME: 20’s
PLACE: Eyes
Compliment your skin’s natural glow with a touch of luminosity to brighten your eyes.

Chanel Ombre D’Eau- apply with finger and you are out the door. As a base to powder shadows, they will hold your makeup all day and night.
Christian Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow (in Sunset Café)- these warm shades compliment every skin tone and are a sophisticated way to add a highlight.

TIME: 30’s
PLACE: Lips
Creamy textures with subtle iridescence (finely ground flecks vs. large glitter specks) are classy ways to enhance your pout. Avoid heavily frosted lipsticks, which can have a cake-like appearance.

Hourglass Adorn Hydrating Lipsticks- in delicate or punchy hues, they are simply gorgeous.
Vincent Longo Diamond Lip Gloss- very high shine, but pleasantly approachable.

TIME: 40’s
PLACE: Cheeks
Polished cheeks give the appearance of moist and healthy skin.

Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick (in Apricot)- highlights darker skin and gives a sun-kissed glow to light-medium skin.

TIME: 50’s +
PLACE: Body
Keep it simple and give your skin all over a boost.

Burt’s Bees Radiance Body Lotion- contains a trace amount of mica, so it gives a youthful sheen to the skin. The scent is exhilarating.

Be mindful of your glitz and everyone will be aware of your glamour.
